The large range of wetlands that the tropics has to offer can be found here, from freshwater swamps to mangrove tidal flats to seagrass meadows, these wetlands are crucial to the biota that inhabit this region. Wetlands often act as nursery grounds and have a large range of food web interactions that can occur within them. These interactions also take place across wetlands and other habitats, highlighting the importance of the transitional wetland, as many of the species that are found in these waters are highly mobile. The complex changes of salt and freshwater, combined with the movements of different species and variety of flora, reveal that these habitats have a lot to offer, but are not yet completely understood.
